There are copious variations for outfits nowadays. Apart from design, fabric is another thing that differentiates one dress from the other. The type of garment fabric used to make the clothing is what determines if it is casual or fancy.
Fabric is a textile product manufactured by weaving an intricate mesh of threads or yarns together. Knitting or weaving the threads together creates interlocking fabrics for garments and clothes.
Some fabric fibers, on the other hand, are joined by heat, mechanical, or chemical treatment. Knitted, woven, and quasi-woven fabrics are the most common forms of fabrics.
Fabrics are available in a vast range of shapes and forms, each with its own texture and qualities. Some textiles are used for the clothing industries to produce garments, whereas others are used for the upholstery sector to make furniture.
This fundamental item of clothing has two classifications: finished fabric and grey fabric. Now, grey fabric is commonly referred to fabrics that have not been completely woven or knit.
It is also called “Greige fabric” and it is usually neither entirely bleached, nor dyed.
Types of garment fabric
Finished fabric on the other hand is the one used for manufacturing garments. Some very popular forms of finished fabric are listed below:
Cotton voile
A moderately sheer, light-weight fabric with a nice drape. It is a partially transparent soft fabric that’s typically comprised of 100% cotton or mixtures of cotton with linen or polyester. This is mostly used for curtains and summer-friendly dresses.
Denim
A hard material with little elasticity and drape. Denim is durable, cotton warp-faced twill in which the weft threads pass below two or more warp yarns. This is mostly used for manufacturing denim jackets, jeans, and western clothing like shirts and tops.
Silk
A delicate, light-weight fabric that drapes beautifully. It has a sliver of sheen to it. Silk is slicker and tougher to deal with. It also works well as a liner fabric. It has a lovely drape and gloss and is used in a range of garments like long gowns and sarees. Silk is often used to add a luxurious touch to accessories, bedding, furniture, and other items.

Organza
A descendant of silk, which is a lightweight, translucent, plain woven fabric with a pattern of small holes running through it. Organza was traditionally made of silk, but synthetic fibers like nylon and polyester are now used. The amount of holes in an organza cloth determines its quality. Crepe

Georgette
Tightly twisted threads are used to weave this sort of crepe fabric. On the textile’s surface, this generates a crinkle effect. Georgette is a light-weight, matte-finish fabric. Linen
